Frequently Asked Questions

We’re always happy to answer your questions by text or email. Below, you’ll find responses to some of the most common questions we receive.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we are a direct pay, flat-fee clinic. We do not bill insurance, which keeps costs transparent and affordable.

How much does a visit cost?

Each visit is $75 paid at the time of booking, which secures your appointment slot. If, for any reason, the provider is unable to see you, your fee is refunded promptly.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Appointments are scheduled in advance, but same-day visits may be available. Book online and choose a time that works for you. We also have a wait-list feature if same-day care is desired.

What kind of technology do I need for a visit?

All visits are conducted on our secure telehealth platform. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, microphone, and a stable internet connection. If you can FaceTime or use Zoom, you have everything you need to connect with us.

Who can be a patient?

We see patients ages 5 and older. As long as you are physically located in Alabama at the time of your visit, we can provide care. We are inclusive and nondiscriminatory, and we aim to create a judgment-free environment where you can discuss your private health concerns.

What kinds of conditions do you treat?

  • Chronic condition management: high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, migraines, depression, anxiety, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, arthritis.

  • Acute illnesses & minor injuries: colds, sinus infections, flu, stomach bugs, urinary tract infections, back strains, rashes, and more.

  • Preventive & lifestyle care: birth control, erectile dysfunction medications, weight loss support (including semaglutide and tirzepatide), and dermatology needs like Retin-A or Latisse.

Will I always see the same provider?

Yes! Unlike large corporate telehealth clinics, you’ll always see the same trusted provider who gets to know you and your health history. We focus on relationships, not volume.

How will the provider diagnose me remotely?

The basis of every in-person visit is, at its core, a conversation. While some conditions require testing, many can be assessed visually or through a guided self-exam. We can also order labs, X-rays, or CT scans when needed. Referrals are provided to appropriate specialists.

What if I need in-person care?

If your condition requires it, we will refer you to a specialty clinic in your area or direct you to the nearest urgent care or emergency room for immediate treatment.

Can you order labs or imaging?

Yes. We can order labs, X-rays, and CT scans to confirm a diagnosis and guide your treatment plan.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes. We e-prescribe medications directly to your local pharmacy. We also work with your insurance provider to obtain prior authorizations if needed.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

No. We do not prescribe narcotics or controlled substances.

Can you provide doctor’s notes?

Yes. We are happy to provide work or school excuse notes when appropriate.

Why should I choose Alabama Virtual Care over a large telehealth company?

We are real people with real clinical experience, not an algorithm. You’ll get consistent care from the same provider each time, with the time and attention you deserve. Our focus is quality, not quantity. We pride ourselves on offering concierge care without the concierge price.

Is my visit private and secure?

Yes. All visits are conducted on a secure telehealth platform with industry-leading encryption, protecting your privacy and personal health information.

Where are you located?
